Halo Laser in Edina & Bloomington

Skin Rejuvenation Clinic is in the top 2% of all the providers in the world! Your skin can appear more radiant after a Halo Laser treatment. Due to its unique award-winning state-of-the-art technology, it is capable of treating a variety of cosmetic issues effectively. It uses both ablative and non-ablative wavelengths to treat the skin and can target deep layers as well as surface layers of the skin. This dual laser (made by Sciton) is a fantastic treatment for problematic skin texture and tone. It decreases fine lines and wrinkles by stimulating collagen. It will decrease pore size and give the skin a “Halo” glow. It also improves or eliminates sun spots (age spots, “liver spots”), and unwanted discolorations.

Our acne patients have seen significant improvements in their scarring both in discoloration and skin depression. It is perfect for the face neck and other body areas. We like to call this treatment the “game changer” because the results are amazing! Adding PRP (platelet-rich plasma) treatments after a Halo treatment permits the growth factors to access the deeper layers of the skin, enhancing the effects of collagen growth and cell turnover. Additionally, PRP speeds up the healing process.

How it Works

Step 1: Consultation

A consult will determine if the Halo Laser is the right treatment for you. Our caring and expert providers at Skin Rejuvenation Clinic near Minneapolis will discuss what your goals are and what can be done to achieve the results you desire.

Step 2: Treatment Planning

Based on our conversation, we will create a tailored treatment for your skin.  Prior to treatment, we may start you on therapeutic skin treatment in order to optimize your results. Depending on your medical conditions, we may write a prescription for cold sore medicine or acne medicine.

Step 3: Treatment

Your Halo laser treatment will begin with a topical numbing cream applied to the treatment areas for approximately one hour. Your provider will then enter customized parameters specific to your condition into the Halo computer software for precise heating treatment.

A cold air machine (a Zimmer) connected to the Halo handpiece is turned on to keep the skin cool during treatment and make for a more comfortable treatment. We will then perform the Halo treatment in sectioned areas of the skin. For example, we divide the face into four quadrants.

Step 4: Follow up

A follow-up will be scheduled one-month post-treatment. We will evaluate your results. We will answer any questions or concerns about how your treatment area is healing and if you have achieved your desired results.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are Halo treatments uncomfortable?

When the laser energy comes in contact with your skin, you might have a prickling sensation. This is usually not too uncomfortable for most patients, however, pain level varies from patient to patient. To reduce any other possible discomfort that the patient may feel, a Zimmer chiller is used to keep you cool throughout the procedure.

How long will I be warm?

In the first ten to fifteen minutes you will feel warm like a sunburn. Gradually, the heat dissipates and will be gone in about two to three hours.

What is used for pain?

Before the procedure, we apply a topical numbing cream; for most patients, it is sufficient to control discomfort. If needed, we can also offer you Nitric Oxide (“laughing gas”). We can also prescribe a mild relaxing medication if needed.

How will I look when the right after the treatment?

You may be red for the first few days (longer if treatment is more aggressive) and feel as if you have a sunburn. On the second and third days, as the dead skin cells move toward the top layer of skin, you will notice fine, little dark dots.

Your skin will have some mild peeling and feel like sandpaper on days two and three. You may also experience swelling, especially on the upper cheeks and under the eyes. The redness and small brown dots will resolve within two weeks.

Note: If the Halo body treatment is performed, the redness and small brown dots may be present for two weeks before resolving.

What do I use for after care?

We will provide complimentary skin care products with instructions to use. This will ensure that your skin is moisturized and protected as you begin to notice a more healthy and youthful appearance.

May I use makeup to hide the redness?

You may use our Oxygentix makeup to use after the procedure. This is the only make-up product recommended as it allows the skin to breathe. It is also an excellent cover-up that looks natural. Our products are medical grade and safe to use.

How do I handle swelling if it occurs?

You should stay upright as much as possible. Sleeping on a stack of pillows or elevating the bed for three days following the treatment will be helpful to reduce the swelling and alleviate any discomfort.

If you are someone who is prone to swelling, taking allergy medication such as Allegra, Claritin, Xyzal, or Zyrtec on the day of treatment and for a few days after the procedure will be beneficial. Occasionally, oral steroids may be prescribed for cases in which there is significant swelling.

Can I peel off those little brown dots?

You should not peel off those little brown dots or scrub aggressively after treatment. We do not recommend manual, aggressive exfoliating of the skin as it is healing. However, gentle brushing with a washcloth when cleansing the skin is acceptable to reduce flaking.

When do I see the "Halo Glow"?

You will notice the “Halo Glow” 1 to 2 weeks following treatment. The stimulation of hydraulic acid besides better light reflectivity of the skin contributes to this wonderful result. You will continue to appreciate pleasant changes for the next three months and beyond.

How often can I do a Halo?

We recommend that you wait at least 4-6 weeks between Halo procedures. However, After just one treatment, you will see dramatic results which will continue to improve for several months!

Is the Halo good for darker skin tones?

The Halo laser is suitable for darker skin tones due to its state-of-the-art hybrid technology. It is the first laser to utilize the combination of both ablative and non-ablative wavelengths.

This helps balance out the laser energy that is penetrating both the dermis and epidermis, thereby reducing the danger of unintended discoloration. Furthermore, the settings of the laser can be adjusted according to one’s skin tone, making it extremely customizable.
