This varies from patient to patient. Some find it to have no discomfort. Some find it to be mildly uncomfortable. Others find it to be very hot and prickly.

The first ten to fifteen minutes are the most uncomfortable. Gradually the heat dissipates and will be totally gone in about two to three hours.

We apply topical numbing for an hour prior to the procedure, and for most patients, it is sufficient to control pain. If needed, we can offer you Nitrous Oxide (“laughing gas”). We also may prescribe a mild relaxing medication in certain cases.

The treated area will be red for the first three days (longer if the treatment is more aggressive) and will feel like a sunburn.

On the second and third days, as the dead skin cells move toward the top layer of the skin, you will notice fine little dark dots that may last up to two weeks before resolving. Your skin will have some mild peeling and feel a little like sandpaper on days two and three.

We will provide complimentary skin care products with instructions to use for the next two weeks.

We do not recommend aggressive exfoliating of the skin as it is healing. However, gentle brushing with a washcloth when cleansing the skin is acceptable to reduce flaking.

As soon as 1 to 2 weeks after the Halo treatment, you may see results. The stimulation of hyaluronic acid, in addition to better light reflectivity of the skin, contributes to this wonderful result. You will continue to appreciate pleasant changes for at least three months after the treatment.

We recommend waiting at least one month between Halo procedures.

Yes, Halo can be used on most patients with darker skin.

A typical Halo laser treatment session lasts about 30 minutes, but the exact duration can vary depending on the targeted areas and the specific skin condition being addressed.

Recovery time generally ranges from 5 to 7 days. During the initial days, you might experience redness, particularly if the treatment is more intensive, and your skin may feel like it has a sunburn. By the second and third days, as dead skin cells rise to the surface, expect to see tiny dark spots appearing.

Your skin will likely undergo mild peeling and a rough, sandpaper-like texture. Swelling may also occur. The redness and small brown spots typically clear up within two weeks.

To ensure optimal results, avoid getting shampoo on the treated area for a few days after your treatment. You can shower in the morning after using a medical-grade gentle soap and warm, not hot, water.
